What It Is

Alright class. Bigger is? Better. Why? Because a bigger head means more MOI. That’s “Moment of Inertia” for those of you in the back. Which is really just fancy engineer-speak for an object’s resistance to rotation.

Picture this: you’re a kid again, spinning in circles on your dad’s office chair (even though he told you not to). Spin round with your legs sticking straight out and you’re pretty slow, right? But tuck your legs crisscross-applesauce and–hold on–you’re spinning faster, getting dizzier, and dad’s shouting from across the house. THAT’S MOI: mass far from an object’s center slows rotation.

How It Works

A bigger club head gave us more freedom to place discretionary mass as far from Launcher XL’s center as possible. And just like dad’s office chair, a figure skater’s spin, or a ballerina’s pirouette, a body spins slower when its mass is extended outward.

This matters because when you strike a golf ball on the toe or heel of the golf club, that golf club will start to rotate. And the degree to which your club’s face opens or closes directly affects how offline your ball flies. Translation? Less rotation on off-center impacts equals straighter drives.

Let’s talk numbers: our last driver generation had an MOI of 4,660 g-cm2. That’s nothing to sneeze at. But Launcher XL tops out at 5,200 g-cm2. That’s an increase of roughly 11% and an altogether impressive number with real life results on the course that come in the form of longer, straighter drives, even when your swing isn’t perfect.

What It Is

Where does a driver get its speed? From a flexible face. Every time your club hits the ball, that driver face deforms inwardly, then snaps back into shape, propelling the ball forward and (hopefully) toward your target.

But what if we told you that Cleveland Golf engineers found a way to put more flex in your driver head? You’d perk up, right? Because more flex is more speed, and more speed means more distance. Well, strap in, because that’s exactly what we’ve accomplished with Rebound Frame and you’re about to learn all about it.

How It Works

Like we said above: driver hits ball, driver face flexes, ball flies fast. But with Rebound Frame, the driver doesn’t just flex once, it flexes twice thanks to a second flex zone.

Around the perimeter of Launcher XL’s fast and flexible face, we thickened the titanium to create a rigid frame that supports the face. But, as you move farther back along the crown and sole of the driver, behind that rigid frame, we’ve thinned out the titanium wall as much as possible. This creates a ring of flexibility in the body of the driver, located behind the driver face. That ring is then supported by additional stiffness at the back of the driver.

When you strike the ball, both of these flexible zones are activated, increasing the amount of energy that subsequently propels the golf ball off the face of the driver. It’s all a bit complicated, we know, but it’s easy to think of it as a spring within a spring–a bounce within a bounce.

What It Is

Sure, meditation works great, but that’s not the kind of balance we’re after here. A more balanced golf swing comes from Action Mass CB.

How It Works

Lots of shafts claim to be “Counter Balanced.” But a few extra sheets of graphite slapped onto one end of a golf shaft won’t have much effect on something as dynamic as a golf swing.
